The Little House: A Cozy Living Room

The little house that we are renting is quite cozy at 784 square feet. It was built in 1930 with three beautiful acres surrounding it complete with woods, a path to a creek, and many, many blackberry bushes. The next few days, I plan to write a little about each room in the little house, which actually looks a lot like a cabin inside.

Be prepared for a lot of coziness, as I share the living room ...

There is a cute little wood burning stove in the corner of the living room, which will provide us all of our warmth this fall & winter. This will be my first experience with wood stoves, but David is going to teach me what to do to keep Sienna and I warm during the day.
I can't wait for the weather to get a bit cooler!

With the small space of the little house, we decided to use our futon in the living room. The colors all blend perfectly into the natural surroundings. The rocking chair was a gift from Grandma Diane & Grandpa Paul when I was pregnant with Sienna. I had three to choose from and I chose this one, which happened to be David's grandmothers that she used to rock his father to sleep. Someday, it will be Sienna's for her babies ...

This sweet butterfly lamp was a gift for Jennifer (David's sister) and bought in Arcata, California. Unfortunately, she couldn't take it with her when she moved cross-country to Washington D.C., but it fits perfectly with the colors in our living room. Thanks, Auntie Jenn.

Above the futon is a painting that I purchased from an artist on Etsy last year. I absolutely love it! It is a painting of a field full of sunflowers and the frame is made of reclaimed barn wood.

These are two birds that sit atop our bookshelf in the living room.
They were a gift from Nana Sandy last Christmas.
(Merlin likes to sit up there sometimes, too!)

And last, Merlin has even found his cozy spot.
This is Sienna's rocking chair from Nana Sandy. Sienna loves to sit in it and rock her babies. Lately, she's even been trying to stand on it!

Join me tomorrow, for a view of the cozy blue kitchen ...
