Sienna's 4th Birthday

Phew! It's been a very busy week winding down the school year and returning to my role as homemaker/domestic goddess ...

I've been wanting to share Sienna's 4th birthday with you all week. She had a cozy, little celebration at home with Mama, Daddy and Nana.

The night before her birthday (which fell on a Sunday this year) Mama and the birthday fairies stayed up late to decorate a "makeshift" birthday table for Sienna. (We have a lot of clutter around the little cottage from our upcoming Summer move!)

The birthday fairies even put out her special birthday dress!

And the next morning ...

Sienna sleepily walked into the kitchen and was surprised by the birthday table. She asked Mama if she got up during the night to set up things up. Mama told her that the birthday fairies helped set up.

 The birthday girl!

After Sunday pancakes, she opened her gifts from Mama and Daddy.

Playing with her birthday ring.

This year, we added a hedgehog to the birthday ring. Sienna is very fond of hedgies...

Sienna's Rainbow Cake. We added strawberries to it a bit later.

The inside of our rainbow cake. We used all natural dyes from Whole Foods Market. The indigo and violet came out looking brown, but Sienna loved her rainbow cake!

Opening gifts. Nana gave Sienna a book about the ocean.

Forest joined us for the celebration!

After the celebration, Daddy made Mama's belly cast while Nana and Sienna put together the fairy puzzle and read the book about the ocean.

It was a beautiful day and we can't believe our little one is now 4!

Forest's Baby Shower

I've been meaning to write this post for a week now, but the end of the school year activities are keeping this mama busy!

Sienna and I had a fun time together at Forest's baby shower. We ate a light lunch, opened gifts together, and ate yummy chocolate cake.

Sienna opening Forest's gifts. She liked the froggy bottom!

Her favorite gift of the day! A velveteen rabbit to go along with the book The Velveteen Rabbit. We read the book together at bedtime and she loved the story.

Now, we just can't wait to meet little Forest!

Showering Mama

Later today, Sienna and Mama will be going to a baby shower for Forest at Mama's work. On the way home from work/school yesterday Sienna began asking lots of questions about baby showers. She asked if they were going to give Mama a shower and get her clean. We talked a bit about what baby showers are and I told her we would look at photos from her baby shower later. I thought I'd share a few of those photos with you today. Mama thinks her and Daddy look very young! It's funny to think that was 4 years ago!

Welcome, Sienna!

Lots of little girl clothes!

Sienna can't wait to share her baby board books with Forest! She organized the basket for him this morning.

We'll share some photos of Forest's baby shower very soon!

The Morning Line-Up

Sienna loves to sing in the mornings. Our morning line-up consists of the same four songs every day. She is a girl that loves her daily rhythm and routine, even with music!

The morning line-up goes like this:

Song #1 - "California"

Song #2 - "This Flight Tonight"

Song #3 - "River"

Song #4 - "A Case of You"

We both love our Joni Mitchell in the mornings! I can still remember listening to my mom's Joni Mitchell Blue album growing up. I loved the crackling sound her old records would make. I'm happy that I can share this love of music with my own daughter.

Happy Christmas!

Happy Christmas from our little family to yours...

We had a very sweet Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Nana, Grandma and Grandpa helped make both days very special for our family.

Here are a few photos from both days ::

Sienna Belle

On Halloween, we took Ms. Sienna Belle trick-or-treating to about five houses and then spent the rest of our evening passing out candy. We drank hot apple cider and got cozy on the sofa to watch Hocus Pocus. Every time the doorbell rang, Sienna ran over to the door to be Daddy's helper and give out candy.

In Washington, one must dress warmly to trick-or-treat.

Sienna convinced Daddy to dress up like a California park ranger.

Sienna has big plans to be Merlin, the wizard next Halloween. We'll see if she changes her mind!

Pumpkin Carving Night

On Tuesday, Sienna went on an extra special field trip with her Mama and Daddy to the Pumpkin Patch. It was Mama's field trip for her kindergartners and they met us there!

Then, we went over to Sienna's preschool on Thursday night for Pumpkin Carving Night. We carved pumpkins together, drank apple cider, watched Sienna and her friends sing Halloween songs, and at the end they lit the candles in everybody's pumpkins and turned the lights out. Spooky!

"It's pumpkin carving night
It's pumpkin carving night
We'll sing some songs
And have some fun
It's pumpkin carving night"

We also videotaped the performance and promise to get a copy out to our family very soon!
