Slow Summer Days

This summer the little ones have been enjoying lots of popsicles and ice cream, which = a big sticky mess, so lots of baths, too. Some days, Forest has to have two!

After a bath!

All dressed and ready to go!

Sienna has also been taking lots of silly pictures of things ...

and selfies.

Can you guess where she took the next picture? P.S. Forest's hair is getting so long!

And, then there was our annual trip to go blueberry picking at Cascadian Farm. We picked 20 lbs. of organic goodness this year and may go back for more, since our freezer doesn't feel quite full enough to last us through the year.

Sienna chose a blueberry ice cream and Forest's favorite ice cream is chocolate.

This is what 40 lbs. of blueberries looks like. Half of it is Nana's.

Yesterday, when we went to Target, Sienna insisted on getting a new journal. She's been watching me fill out my exercise/food journal and she wanted to do the same. We are going to be doing our first run together in August! Can't wait.

This weekend, we have big plans to paint the outside of our house. Grandma and Grandpa have been helping David do the prepping for the last few weeks. So, hopefully we will have a blue house with white trim next week!

Mama's Guy

We celebrated Forest's 2nd birthday last weekend. On Saturday, we went to the zoo and the next day we celebrated at home. He chose donuts for his birthday breakfast and Mama made him homemade cheese pizza and homemade chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting for his birthday dinner.

He loved his first trip to the Woodland Park Zoo and just in the last few weeks he has been talking so much more. It's amazing watching "Mama's Guy" as he refers to himself grow right before my eyes.

Summer of Well-Being

One of the things I am really focusing on this summer is myself and my own well-being. In many ways I feel like I've neglected my body and health in the last 6+ years. Yes, you may have been counting and figured out that's how old my daughter just turned. Before becoming pregnant with Sienna, I was really on a path of health and well-being. I think I kind of threw it to the wayside with motherhood. My goal for this summer is to get back onto my path of well-being.

A couple of weeks ago, we happened upon a treadmill at a garage sale down the street for $20. It's an older Nordictrack. (gosh, it's dusty ...) I had really been wanting one for awhile. I bought myself a new pair of running shoes on Amazon since the gel in my old ones were completely flattened. Hey, I had them since 2007, I think I was ready for a new pair. Today, was a big accomplishment for me! Last week, I ran 5 days for 2 miles each time. Today, I did 3 miles without stopping! I was pretty slow, but the speed will come later. I'm thinking about signing up for a 5k on my birthday weekend and Sienna wants to run the kids dash, too! I also would like to set some goals to run a half-marathon again.

New to us treadmill and my new running shoes.

In 2006, I ran the Seattle Half-Marathon with my mom and my old friend, Meredith. It was quite the experience. I had sprained my ankle a few months before on a run and it was very icy and snowing a little. I think the next one I plan to run will be during a different time of the year.

Me, in November 2006, after running the Seattle Half Marathon in my first apartment.
