Handmade Goodness

Oh my, how we love handmade in our little home!

A few weeks ago, we went to a Homegrown Festival down our street. At one of the booths, a mother and daughter were selling onesies and knit hats for little ones. We really wanted to buy one for Forest that had Washington state on it, but they were all sold out of bigger sizes for the Winter and since our wee one is quite healthy and plump, they told us they could make one for us and we could pick it up in the next town over at a shop. We also checked out their Etsy shop and decided on a little bear knit hat. (We had grand plans to be Goldilocks and the three bears for Halloween, but Sienna has since changed her mind...)

I also wanted to share a very sweet, little pair of booties that our neighbor made for Forest. We hadn't even spoken to her before, but she is often sitting in a chair on her porch. She told us that she had watched me grow and toward the end of the pregnancy she was waiting for the baby to come, since we were out walking every night the last few weeks before his birth day.

Sweet, little booties for Winter.

They should keep Forest's toes nice and toasty.

And this evening, friends, we are going to see a few rental houses at the beach! Hopefully, one of these may work for us. One of them even has a wood stove, which we do miss dearly from the little house. Fingers crossed.

Sienna in Blueberry Land

This afternoon, our little family went on a blueberry-pickin' adventure at Cascadian Farm. When we visited the farm stand last weekend, we decided we had to come back and go. So, after arriving and having yummy homemade ice cream from the stand, we set out to pick our blueberries. Forest didn't like the wind coming off the mountains, so Nana took him to a shady spot while the rest of our little family picked (and ate!) delicious blueberries.

Next summer, Forest will be able to join us on our blueberry picking adventure! Also, two books, I recommend reading to your little ones before blueberry picking are Peter in Blueberry Land and Blueberries for Sal.

Happy Blueberry Picking!

(and a very Happy Birthday to Aunt Jennifer, who turns 33 today!)

This summer ...

It's been a busy summer for our little family. Though, we've mostly just been spending our summer days at home soaking in the wee one, Forest. Some of the "going ons" around here include ::

My girl swimming in her purple pool.

Running through the sprinklers for the first time!

Sienna and Daddy making tied dye together.

Big sister holding little brother whenever she gets the chance.

Forest's first bath and several more after this photo was taken ...

This is Sienna during her first bath!

Sienna discovering that you can paint your nails with markers.

Lots and lots of this!

Mama's 32nd birthday!

Thanks for the yummy, homemade cheesecake Nana!

My girl singing happy birthday to me!

Lastly, Sienna and I dressed Forest up for the Olympics! Go, USA!
(This was actually going to be his outfit for July 4th, if he came on time. Hence, the snugness.)

It's been a lovely summer so far with a few other important trips undocumented. Like our first trip to Anacortes and Gere-a-deli. And yesterday, a road trip on the Cascade Loop and then, stopping for ice cream at the Cascadian Farm roadside stand. We may just have to go back next weekend! I will remember to bring our camera next time ...

Forest's Birth Day

Hello, friends!

Our little family has been busy with the arrival of our wee one, Forest.

Forest arrived on July 6th at 5:58pm (two days past his due date). I just finished writing out his Birth Story, which I decided I will not be sharing on the blog. It is personal to me and something I will share with our family only. I thought I would share some photos from his "birth" day though.

After being admitted into the birthing pavilion.
I was 5-6 cm. dilated at this time, according to the triage nurse.

Sienna was there to see Forest arrive into the world.
