Snow!

This week, Father Snow brought our little town some late Winter white stuff. We read the book Snow every night and have been waiting for a snow day for weeks.

Yesterday, Sienna tried a few new things ... tasting the snow with her tongue and making snow angels with Mama. She also loves going for Wintery snow walks!

Happy to be outside! This is her new snow jacket. Nana bought it for next Winter, but we tested it out yesterday. Thank you, Nana!

We can't wait to go out and play in the snow later today!

Questing for Treasure

On Saturday and Sunday, our little family ventured over to Stanwood and Camano Island for a treasure hunt. We were on a quest to find a clear, plastic ball that would contain a message that would lead us to our treasure. The treasure is a glass snowball.

On Saturday, we hiked down to the beach at Camano Island State Park. Sienna loved walking in the sand and collecting her own treasure - special rocks.

It was a beautiful, chilly day. This is the view from the beach.

On Sunday, we started our quest at the Uff Da Shoppe. We also visited there on Saturday, but decided to return on Sunday with hopes of treasure. We love gnomes and this store has plenty! But, we left treasure-less again.

From here, we headed over to the Rotary Adventure Playground between Camano Island and Stanwood. We searched the park a little bit for treasure and made our way over to the playground for lots of outdoor play!

We plan to go the Port Susan Snow Goose & Birding Festival and continue our quest. Hopefully, we will find a treasure ...

Happy (Rainy) Valentine's Day

Yes, Happy (Rainy) Valentine's Day from Washington.

It sprinkled and poured off and on all day long. We spent most of the day inside cozy and warm.

Sienna and I woke up to this lovely little display of love from David.

From David.

She was very excited and wanted to eat all of the chocolate. I only let her eat a few before her regular oatmeal breakfast.

Persuading me to let her have a piece of chocolate.

After a bath and pizza dough making, we ventured out for a bit to visit Nana at her school. We didn't get any pictures of her Valentine's Day party since we didn't stay too long. Sienna was ready to rest.

Mama and Sienna in our pink pajamas.

I decided last week that I wanted to make a heart shaped pizza for Valentine's Day. Now that David is working his earlier schedule again, he came home and helped by making the pizza sauce. I shaped the dough into a heart and finished preparing our special Valentine's Day dinner.

Ready to go in the oven.

Out of the oven ~~

Our family had a quiet, happy day at home. This is the way we like to celebrate the seasons together.

Sending lots of love on this special Winter holiday from our little family to yours ~~

Twispy Adventures

A few weeks ago, David mentioned that he might like to take a road trip to the little town of Twisp, Washington for his birthday this year. He turns 30! So, Mama and Daddy will be the same age for a few months.

The last time we visited, Sienna was just a wee little one. We went in May (for David's birthday) a little before Sienna's first birthday. It was a beautiful drive up Highway 20 and both of us fell in love with the little town of Twisp. Today, I thought I'd share a few photos from our last Twispy Adventure in May 2009. (David took the camera with him to Northern California this weekend)

We made lots of stops along the way and way back, since Sienna was still nursing quite a bit back then.

Beautiful mountains!

Mama and Sienna

Sienna didn't like road trips, so much back then ...

Although, we loved the town of Twisp so much we really didn't take too many pictures of the town. I guess we wanted to preserve it in our memory. They had an awesome Farmer's Market while we were there.

We did, however, get quite a few photos from the town of Winthrop, which is near Twisp. It's made to look like an Old West town.

Mama, Sienna and a cowboy.

We liked this mural.

This is the yellow house we loved. Sienna really wants to live in a yellow house. Maybe, someday ...

Mama really loved this schoolhouse turned brewery.

Sienna's favorite past-time in the hotel room.
(Pulling all of the tissues out of the box)

David also did a lot of fishing while we were there ...

On the way home ...

David stopped off to see where Jack Kerouac worked as a fire lookout on Desolation Peak in Mount Baker National Forest. Kerouac wrote about his experiences in the book, On the Road. Daddy really loves his books and also worked as a fire lookout during the summer that we met.

So, come this May our little family may find ourselves on the road to another Twispy adventure. If, of course, we are still living in Washington then.
